One of my favorite years at HNES was in my 1st grade class with Ms. Mahavier. It was the first year that I had very distinct memories of learning, activities and field trips - measuring around the classroom with sticks of gum, having our silhouette portraits done, reading Mrs. Spider's Tea Party and watching a giraffe lick our teacher at Zoo World. 1st grade was only year 3 of 10 amazing years at a school that shaped you, nurtured you and taught you to 'Love God' and 'Love Your Neighbor'. Holy Nativity was a place where the teachers cared about you, where your principal remembered your pet's names and where hugs were always welcomed. Now we fast forward 13 years from a little girl who loved the halls of this school so much that she is now a teacher of her own 1st grade class! I still read Mrs. Spider's Tea Party to my kids and we measure around the classroom with sticks of gum. I still follow the two golden rules to 'Love God' and 'Love Your Neighbor' and I always remember the names of my kid's pets because I know how much that meant to me as a child. Holy Nativity doesn't just prepare you for high school and college, it prepares you for life. It prepares you to become a member of society, to be involved in your community. Growing up in the "magic" of Holy Nativity builds your character and integrity and I wouldn't trade my years then and my years here now for anything in the world!
